A new payment and processing system for Arlington parking tickets launched yesterday (Wednesday).
The new site is intended to make it easier for motorists to resolve citations. Users can enter either their ticket number, their license plate number or their vehicle identification number to view open tickets.
“We’ve introduced a more user-friendly online portal, making it easier and faster to view, pay and appeal parking tickets,” the county said in a press release. “Our upgraded platform makes online services for parking tickets more accessible on any device.”
QR codes on parking tickets will now direct to the payment site. People can also pay tickets by credit or debit card by calling 571-570-2208, or by mailing a check to Arlington County, P.O. Box 66, Horsehead, NY 14845.
Another logistical change for local vehicle owners will arrive beginning in July, when the county’s residential permit parking switches to online only. The county will issue electronic permits through a new software system, phasing out paper permits.
The change will roll out in stages between July and December.
After the change, parking enforcement will scan license plates to determine whether they have valid permits. The shift means that residents will no longer be able to independently verify whether a vehicle on their street has a valid permit, but they’ll still be able to report improperly parked vehicles through the transportation safety enforcement request form.
