Clarendon Day returns this weekend, bringing road closures

Clarendon Day is back this weekend, bringing music, vendors and several road closures around the neighborhood’s Metro station.

The event, which starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, will feature live rock, yacht rock and ska music through the day, in addition to 175 vendors and booths from local organizations.

“Clarendon Day is when the whole corridor comes together to celebrate and showcase what makes this area so special,” Galin Brooks, executive director of the Clarendon Alliance, told ARLnow earlier this month. “I’m looking forward to seeing that energy on the street on Sept. 26, all across the eight blocks of festival activities.”

The following roads will be closed from 3 a.m.-10 p.m. to accommodate the event, according to the Arlington County Police Department:

  • Wilson Blvd from N. Garfield Street to Washington Blvd
  • Clarendon Blvd from Washington Blvd to N. Garfield Street
  • N. Highland Street from N. Hartford Street to 11th Street N.
  • N. Hudson Street from Wilson Blvd to the alleyway behind Don Tito
  • N. Herndon Street from Wilson Blvd to the alleyway behind CVS

Street parking in the area will be restricted and attendees are encouraged to take the Metro or other transit options.

More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the festivities, hosted by the Clarendon Alliance for more than 25 years.
