BalletNova Presents The Nutcracker Ballet December 4 – 7 Featuring Returning Alumni

BalletNova presents the beloved holiday ballet, The Nutcracker on December 4 – 7, 2014 for six performances at Thomas Jefferson Community Theater in Arlington (125 South Old Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22204).

Featured performers this year are two BalletNova alumni, Simon Bull and Frank Spohn, dancing the roles of the Nutcracker/Cavalier and the Mouse King. Conservatory student Amara Forsley dances the Sugar Plum Fairy (recipient of the 2015 Fredgren Scholarship Award and the 2015 Fairfax County Dance Coalition Senior Student Scholarship Award).

Choreographed by Nancie Woods and Caroline Frankil Warren in 2003 to Tchaikovsky’s familiar score, BalletNova’s full-length Nutcracker leads you through the magical story of Clara and her mysterious Uncle Drosselmayer (a magician who can stop time) and her adventures with giant mice, life-size dolls, faeries, beautiful Snowflakes and a lush Kingdom of the Sweets. A sophisticated 1940s Party Scene sets the tone for the family-friendly 1 hour and 45 minute performance (with one 15 minute intermission).

Performance Schedule:

Friday, December 5 at 7:30 PM

Saturday, December 6 at 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM
