The end of August today means the end of summer and start of fall is upon us.
With the season change coming, we have compiled 14 fall events coming up in Arlington and around Northern Virginia.
1. Corn Maze and Apple Harvest (Sept. 1-30)
Great Country Farms (34345 Snickersville Turnpike, Bluemont)
September may mean back to school for many, but at Great Country, it means back to the farm for freshly pressed cider and apple picking. Celebrate everything apple with apple picking, their award-winning apple cider doughnuts, and a romp in their 12-acre play area. On Saturdays and Sundays, they add live music, marshmallow roasting, pig races, and cider demonstrations.
2. Bands, Brews, and Barbecue Festival (11 a.m-5 p.m. on Sept. 10)
Manassas Museum Lawn (9101 Prince William St., Manassas)
Historic downtown Manassas will hold its 11th Annual Bands, Brews, and Barbecue Festival, complete with a chance to ride a mechanical bull and try your hand at some ax throwing. Put those tossing skills to work and participate in a fun corn hole competition with a chance to win a trophy. Of course, there will be plenty of food and drinks, with live bands playing throughout the event.
3. Rosslyn Jazz Fest 2022 (1-7 p.m. on Sept. 10)
Gateway Park (1300 Langston Blvd, Arlington)
Jazz is back in Rosslyn. Beginning at 1 p.m., Rosslyn is bringing a diverse lineup of four acts to the stage: Cimafunk, Mwenso & The Shakes, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, and Groove Orchestra. Jazz Fest is FREE, and registration is not required but strongly encouraged (capacity limits are in place).
4. Dulles Day Plane Pull (11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 17)
Dulles International Airport (1 Saarinen Circle, Dulles)
The Dulles Day Festival & Plane Pull (presented by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and United Airlines) is back on the ropes on September 17 at Dulles Airport. There will be a wide variety of food options available, as well as to further support Special Olympics Virginia.
5. Green Valley Day (noon-6 p.m. on Sept. 17)
Drew Elementary and John Robinson Jr. Town Square (2406 Shirlington Rd., Arlington)
“It’s a new day, in Green Valley!” The Green Valley Civic Association will be hosting Green Valley Day fun for the entire family. It will feature a community talent showcase, games and activities, live music, food, and much more.
6. Reston Multicultural Festival (11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sept. 17)
Reston Town Square Park (11900 Market St., Reston)
Reston Town Center will fill with color, music, and culture at the Reston Town Square Park. It is a celebration of the diversity and community spirit found in Reston. Family, friends, and neighbors are treated to music, entertainment, dress, and cultural treasures.
7. Colonial Market & Fair (9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 17-18)
Mount Vernon (3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon)
Take in the sights and sounds of the marketplace on Mount Vernon’s 12-acre field. Chat with colonial artisans selling traditional handcrafted food and wares, hear live music from the colonial era, watch as expert artisans demonstrate period crafting techniques, and see General Washington in the General’s Tent.
8. Bluemont Fair (10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 17-18)
Bluemont Community Center (33846 Snickersville Turnpike, Bluemont)
Wander through the 200-year-old village nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Browse their artisan crafts and enjoy local wine, beer, and music, all while experiencing the history and traditions of the Bluemont area. Children can enjoy free games at the Children’s Fair and visit the petting zoo.
9. Cox Farms Fall Festival (Sept. 17-Nov. 8)
Cox Farms (15621 Braddock Road, Centreville)
The annual Cox Farms Fall Festival returns for 2022. The biggest fall festival in Northern Virginia packs family-friendly entertainment and attractions: slides, rope swings, hayrides, a corn maze, a petting zoo, and more.
10. Clarendon Day (11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sept. 24)
Clarendon Metro (3100 block of Clarendon Blvd, Arlington)
Music, food, art, and fun for the whole family — Clarendon Day is one of Arlington’s best-loved street festivals. There will be several music stages, a large kids area, arts and crafts vendors, business and nonprofit exhibitors (from Clarendon and the region), food from local and regional restaurants, craft beers, Virginia wines, and more.
11. ValleyFest ’22 (noon-5 p.m. on Sept. 25)

12. Occoquan Fall Arts & Crafts Show (10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 24-25)
Occoquan Historic District (314 Mill St., Occoquan)
Hosted in the streets of Historic Occoquan, the Fall Arts & Crafts Show will feature two packed days of a wide range of 200+ artisans, makers, and creators in over 20 categories (including bath & body, fine art, home décor, jewelry, clothing, gourmet food, and pet accessories). There will be live music in the beer and wine garden, kids will be able to stop by Imagination Alley to create art, and you can add your creativity to a 32-foot mural.
13. Mosaic Skateland (Sept. 1-25)
Mosaic District (2905 District Ave., Fairfax)
September is the last chance for classic old-school roller skating at the outdoor rink at Mosaic District. Mosaic Skateland invites you to get up, boogie, and celebrate a spin around the rink for the ultimate disco revival.
14. Marine Corps Marathon (8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 30)
Rosslyn (N. Meade and Lynn Streets and Ft. Myer and Fairfax Drives, Arlington)
With its start and finish in Arlington, the Marine Corps Marathon offers a journey through the most recognizable landmarks in the country. The finish festival is open to all and features food, drink, music, and giveaways.
