Seven high-school football players from Arlington were chosen to 6D North Region first or second team on offense for their performances during the 2024 fall season.
The first-team all-region selections were Washington-Liberty Generals senior wide receiver Jon Malatesta and Yorktown Patriots junior tight end Brady Owens and Yorktown senior offensive lineman Aidan Vroom.
Malatesta also was selected as the second-team all-region Offensive Player of the Year.
For the season, Malatesta caught 76 passes for 1,001 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also had 181 yards in kick returns and additional yardage rushing.
Owens caught 32 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 67 yards and one TD.
Five Arlington players were chosen second-team all-region on offense. That group was led by Washington-Liberty senior quarterback Matthew Abramson, who played in all 13 contests, completing 214 passes for 2,574 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Abramson threw TD passes in 12 of the 13 games. He tossed multiple scoring passes, with highs of four and five, in 11 of the contests, and also rushed for 253 yards and two scores.
Also making second team from Washington-Liberty were senior center Sam Bekele and senior all-purpose player Sean Guffey. Guffey had 32 catches for 489 yards and five touchdowns, as well as some rushing yardage.
Making second team all-region from Yorktown was senior wide receiver Finn Luca.
Luca caught 48 passes for 926 yards and seven touchdowns, and ran for 295 yards and three scores.
