The Marymount University Saints made the best of a roster of just 11 during the winter swimming season.
After finishing 5-0 to win the regular-season title, the squad placed second in the Division III Atlantic East Conference postseason championships.
Of the 11, only eight Marymount swimmers participated in the championship meet. St. Mary’s, with 18 swimmers, finished first.
Marymount, the defending champion, placed ahead of Marywood and Immaculata, both with more swimmers on their rosters than the Saints.
Leading Marymount in the championship meet were first-team all-conference swimmers Lillian Crawley, Sydney Runk and Ilana Hawkins and second-teamers Cara Craig and Miah Lopez. Hawkins won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.41, was third in the 50 freestyle and swam on a second-place relay. Runk was first in the 1,650 free in 19:11.29.
Lopez was second in the 100 and 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley, she swam on relays and earned the conference Rookie of the Year award. Crawley was second in the 100 free and Craig was second in the 100 and 200 backstroke events.
Marymount’s Alexandra Pette won the 200 back (2:13.55) and was third in the 100 back. Ella DeNicola was third in the 200 breast and Payton So third in the 100 fly.
The Saints’ second-place relays were the 200, 400 and 800 free and the 200 medley. The 500 free relay was third.
