Over a dozen overnight break-ins reported at parking garage off Columbia Pike

Police are investigating over a dozen break-ins at a parking garage in Penrose last night.

This morning (Thursday), the Arlington County Police Department found 19 vehicles that had been broken into overnight, according to a preliminary incident report

Some windows had been smashed and a tipster shared photos of people’s belongings on the ground in the garage at Penrose Square, on the 2500 block of 9th Road S.

“The vehicles were rummaged through and personal property was stolen from some of the vehicles,” the report says. “There is no suspect description at this time.”

At approximately 7:37 a.m. on July 17, police were dispatched to the 2500 block of 9th Road S. for the report of a destruction of property. Upon arrival, it was determined that during the overnight hours, approximately 19 vehicles inside a parking garage were broken into, including some by force. The vehicles were rummaged through and personal property was stolen from some of the vehicles. There is no suspect description at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Victims reported stolen items such as cards and electronics, police spokesperson Kiyah Daniell told ARLnow.
