Marymount University one of only two U.S. schools to offer new Workday certification

Arlington, Va. — Marymount University has launched its new Workday Pro Platform Administrator Certification, becoming one of only two higher education institutions in the nation to partner with global cloud-based software leader Workday to offer certification programs to the public.

This marks the beginning of Workday College, Marymount’s innovative credentialing initiative to prepare or upskill students, alumni and working professionals for in-demand careers in human capital management, finance and information technology.

Through this collaboration, Marymount will offer Workday-developed training and certification courses that provide hands-on experience with the Workday platform. Program graduates will earn an industry-recognized credential that enhances job readiness and career mobility, particularly in organizations that rely on Workday’s enterprise solutions. Many Fortune 500 companies have widely adopted the firm’s software.

“Few universities have the opportunity to offer a unique, competitive program like Workday College, and Marymount is proud to be one of them,” said Dr. Irma Becerra, President of Marymount University. “This certification offers a meaningful competitive edge for job seekers, and reinforces our mission to empower learners with the latest workplace technologies that shape the future of work and society at large.”

The first course offering, the Workday Pro Platform Administrator Certification, is a 30-hour self-directed program designed to train administrators responsible for maintaining Workday’s platform. Participants learn how to configure and support core system functionalities, manage business processes, assign security access, build reports and dashboards and support data integrations using Workday’s enterprise interface builders. After passing a proctored exam, students earn a digital credential that signals proficiency to potential employers.

“Our collaboration with Marymount is a game-changer for individuals looking to jumpstart or advance their careers in the Workday ecosystem,” said Colin Forth, Senior Vice President of Education at Workday. “By opening up the Workday Pro Platform Administrator Certification, we’re equipping a new wave of professionals with the skills our customers and partners urgently need, directly addressing the talent demands of today’s market. It’s about empowering careers and strengthening our entire community.”

“This program reflects Marymount’s continued investment in digital transformation and workforce readiness,” explained Carl Whitman, Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Marymount University. “Through Workday College, we’re expanding professional pathways for our students and alumni while also strengthening connections with employers who need talent fluent in today’s most in-demand enterprise systems.

As an East Coast education partner with Workday, Marymount is accomplishing strategic goals of expanding career opportunities, enhancing workforce development, attracting new students and strengthening employer relationships.

“With this launch, Marymount affirms its commitment to meeting the evolving demands of the modern workforce and serving as a hub for career-focused, technology-driven education,” President Becerra added.
