Menorah lightings coming to Pentagon City and Clarendon area next week

A pair of giant menorah lightings are taking place in Pentagon City and near Clarendon next week in celebration of Hanukkah.

Both free events will feature latkes, hot cocoa, donuts, chocolate gelt and dreidels for all, along with lively Hanukkah music and the lighting of a nine-foot menorah.

The first will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at Chabad Lubavitch of Alexandria-Arlington, located 1307 N. Highland Street near the Clarendon Metro station. It begins at 6 p.m.

A similar event will happen the next night, Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at Metropolitan Park (1330 S. Fair Street).

Capacity is limited and registration is required for both events.

Hanukkah begins at sundown on Sunday, Dec. 14 this year and lasts through Monday, Dec. 22.
