In this conversation with Molly McCracken, Artist in Residence, and MoCA Arlington Senior Curator, Blair Murphy, Molly will discuss her practice and the work she’s focused on during the 8-week residency at the Innovation Studio.
Mollys colorful and eclectic work in accredited to many inspriations; such as maps, puzzles, her grandmother. Her process is incredibly process oriented, and tends to stray away from setting expectations of what her work will become. Starting with the lines and expanding from there. Molly will be working on many projects during her time in the Innovation Studio. She is currently preparing for the upcoming art show, Look, creating a daily collage calender, as well as having community-led art works she welcomes visitors to assist with. During Molly’s talk, she intends to share how her work comes to be, and the messy process in between.
