A Falls Church man has been arrested after allegedly trying to prevent police from entering a hotel room containing the dead body of a 78-year-old woman.
The Falls Church Police Department announced the investigation of a “suspicious death” following the incident at the Sonesta Suites (205 Hillwood Avenue). Police said they were dispatched around 10:10 a.m. last Tuesday for a welfare check on a guest.
“Upon arrival, police were denied entry into the room by its occupant, later identified as Kyle Gosweiler, age 37, of Falls Church, VA,” police said in a news release. “Once officers gained entry into the room, they located the body of a 78-year-old woman who was pronounced deceased on scene.”
The suspect has been charged with concealing a dead body and obstruction of justice. He is being held in the Arlington County jail on a $1,500 bond.
“The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia is conducting an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death,” police wrote. “The death has been classified as suspicious based on factors at the scene, and the circumstances that preceded the death remain under investigation.”
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Detective C. LeGrand-Douglass at [email protected] or 703-248-5168 (TTY 711).
