All six Arlington teams emerged with winning records in this summer’s Northern Virginia Swimming League and Colonial Swimming League competition.
Of those, the two Colonial Swimming League squads won division championships with undefeated 5-0 marks.
The Arlington Knights of Columbus Holy Mackerels finished atop the Red Division, with the Fort Myer Squids taking the White Division title.
Knights of Columbus and Fort Myer last won division championships in the same season back in 2012. Each finished 4-1 to tie for titles that summer.
Of the four NVSL teams, the Dominion Hills Thunder Ducks had the best season among local squads in 2026, winning a division crown with a 5-0 record.
The Arlington Forest Tigers were second at 4-1, the Donaldson Run Thunderbolts tied for second with a 3-2 record and Overlee’s Flying Fish were third, also with a 3-2 mark.
The last time the four Arlington NVSL teams had winning records in the same season was in 2014, when Overlee and Donaldson Run won division titles with 5-0 records and Arlington Forest and Dominion Hills tied for second in Division 9 with 3-2 marks.
The Knights of Columbus earned the division title and a 5-0 record for the second year in a row, and they also won the league’s relay carnival this summer. The team has won four of the last five overall Red Division team crowns and was second in 2024.
Three of the top individual swimmers for Arlington Knights of Columbus this summer were Jack Parker, Aubrey Larson and Savigna Neely Martin. Each won races at the league’s season-ending all-star meet.
They also won races at the preceding divisional championships, along with Summer Springer, Mary Hecmanczuk, Edith Kuhlman, Victoria Gammell, Abby Duffy and Brennan Gyor.
The division title for Fort Myer was its first since 2012.
The top Fort Myer swimmers this summer were division meet winners Fincher Harper, Gavin Heeb, Deacon Sinder, Bancroft Henderson, Aileen Kee, Clara McCarthy and Sasha Taylor.
For NVSL Division 8 champion Dominion Hills, the title and its 5-0 record were its second in a row, extending the team’s winning streak to 10. That’s a nice bounceback after the Thunder Ducks finished last in Division 7 with a 1-4 mark in 2024.
In action this season, Dominion Hills had seven individual winners in the postseason divisional meet. Of those, Leonardo Hardin, Luca Hardin and Matilda Macskasi won two races each. Single winners at divisionals were Tanner Langsdale, Henry Smith, Andrew Aldonas and Griffin Fahle.
Aldonas and Leonardo Hardin each won a race at the league’s season-ending all-star meet.
Arlington Forest’s 4-1 record and second-place finish in Division 9 were its first since a second-place Division 8 finish in 2015.
The Tigers had five second-place finishers at the divisional meet this summer. They were Evan Wilk, Cole Klapmust, Natalie Sottile, Helen Huggler and Sophie-Lou Mohr.
Donaldson Run’s tie for second came in Division 3.
The Thunderbolts were led by six champions at the divisional meet, including double winners Lila Sherman, Avery Wishneff and Theo Cahill. Single winners were Luke Bracken, Lincoln Givan and Kate Edgerton.
Overlee’s 3-2 record in Division 1 was its third in a row. The Flying Fish have had a winning record every season, all in Division 1, since finishing 0-5 in 2003.
Leading the team were Abigail Hartman and William Craven, who each won races at the all-star meet, with Hartman winning two at divisionals and Craven one.
Other divisional winners for the Flying Fish were James Parker, Will Meagher, Erin Yost, Alexandria Bristow and Samantha Bravery.
