Artist Talk: Material Matters

Wide view of a contemporary art gallery with white walls and wood floors, featuring a tall embellished dress sculpture center stage on a pink rug surrounded by other textile and mixed-media pieces on the right and left walls.

Hear MoCA Residency Alumni unpack the stories behind Material Matters, then stay to connect with the artists over a casual community potluck

Join artists Negar Ahkami, Shahla Arbabi, Roxana Geffen, Sarah Hardesty, Marissa Long, Danielle Mysliwiec, Ryan McCoy, Foon Sham and Rachel Schmidt for a panel discussion moderated by curator Amanda Jirón-Murphy on “Material Matters,” an exhibition featuring works by MoCA Arlington’s Residency Alumni.

The artists will discuss the works on view, as well as the evolution of their practices in the years during and after their time as resident artists at MoCA Arlington.

An informal potluck reception will follow the talk at 3 pm, with a chance to chat with the artists. Feel free to bring a dish to share!

This talk is free of charge and open to the public; registration recommended.
