Arlington man sentenced for rape, abduction of 11-year-old girl

A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping an 11-year-old girl.

Mujibullah Azizi pleaded guilty to charges of rape and abduction for the assault in April 2024 and was sentenced in Arlington County Circuit Court yesterday (Wednesday).

According to prosecutors, a teenage boy led Azizi to the victim after she met the boy on Snapchat and agreed to meet him in person.

“The boy contacted his adult acquaintance, Mujibullah Azizi, who drove them to his apartment in Arlington, where Mr. Azizi raped the young girl,” the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said in a press release.

The victim reported the assault and underwent a forensic medical examination that linked Azizi to the incident. Azizi pleaded guilty to his crimes on Aug. 6.

“We are committed to protecting our community – and children in particular – from sexual violence,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti said. “Had this young survivor had less courage, we would not be here today, so I applaud her and thank her for coming forward and participating in the difficult process of seeking justice.”
