The League of Women Voters of Arlington and Alexandria City will host Candidating for the general election on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Walter Reed Recreation Center, 2909 16th St. S.
The event gives Arlington residents the opportunity to speak directly with the candidates seeking county office this November.
Candidating replaces the traditional candidate forum with direct conversation. There are no speeches or prepared remarks. Residents meet with candidates in small groups, ask their own questions and hear each response firsthand.
Local officials make the decisions that most directly shape daily life in Arlington, yet these races often draw the least attention. Candidating offers voters a clear view of each candidate’s priorities and judgment before Election Day on Nov. 3.
Admission and parking are free. Advance registration is requested through Eventbrite.
The event is presented in partnership with Spread the Vote, the Alpha Delta Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the Youth Democracy Institute and the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization that neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties. Its mission is to empower voters and defend democracy.
