Signature Theatre Education and Washington-Liberty High School’s theater program will stage the musical “Come From Away” next month, with a blanket and coat drive at every performance.
The show tells the true story of a small Newfoundland town whose residents welcomed thousands of stranded travelers after the 9/11 attacks. It’s described as an uplifting, funny and moving look at compassion in the wake of tragedy. The production is appropriate for all ages and runs about 80 minutes. It is directed by Danny Issa and David Zobell.
In keeping with the show’s theme, the cast and crew are collecting new or gently used blankets and coats for Casa Mariflor, a local community support organization. Donations can be dropped off at any performance.
“Come From Away” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
