Julia Sues for Freedom

Guillotine Theatre and The Black Heritage Museum of Arlington present JULIA SUES FOR FREEDOM, a scripted reenactment of the 1842 court case in which Julia, an enslaved woman, sued to win her freedom. Tried in the local county court, the verdict was appealed and the case went all the way to the United States Supreme Court.

Audience members will be offered an opportunity to be part of the jury.

JULIA SUES FOR FREEDOM is a partnership between the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington and Guillotine Theatre, with the support of the Arlington Historical Society.
