Poppies have long been a symbol of remembrance for the sacrifices made by soldiers, as well as a symbol of hope for peace. In this meaningful workshop, students will watch a short, age-appropriate video exploring the history of the poppy and its connection to veterans and remembrance.
Students will then create their own beautiful poppies to take home or give as a thoughtful gift to a veteran or someone they know who has served in the military. This hands-on art project offers a wonderful opportunity to create, learn, and honor those who have served our country. All profits from this class will go to Boulder Crest Foundation, an organization in Virginia that supports and helps heal soldiers with PTSD and their families. If there is low enrollment in the k-2nd and 3-5th grade sections of this class, the two age groups may be combined.
