The Clarendon-Courthouse Mardi Gras Parade has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 10, at 8PM. The Parade, which is the largest Mardi Gras Parade in the DC Region, was postponed due to snow conditions on Fat Tuesday, February 17.
The Make-up Date for the Parade was originally announced as March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day) by the Clarendon Alliance, but the Arlington County Special Events Committee determined that ACPD resources would be over-stretched were the Parade to be held on that date. A poll of the Parade Participants led to the decision to reschedule for March 10. New entrants may register by visiting the Parade website– http://clarendon.org/mardi-gras through COB on Wednesday, March 4.
The Clarendon-Courthouse Mardi Gras Parade is a free, family-friendly event that starts at 8pm at the corner of Wilson Blvd and North Barton Streets in Arlington, and heads west to Washington Boulevard.
The Clarendon Alliance anticipates that scores of groups or organizations will participate on March 10, make up date, including several crowd favorites, such as Batala Washington, the all-women percussion band which will kick off the parade in style, the award-winning Ballou High School marching band, the US Park Police Horse Mounted Unit, Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department, Astropops Events, the LSU Alumni Association, and many, many more.
Although the Parade is a rain or shine event, snow or icy and frigid conditions are unsafe for participants and spectators. Please check the Mardi Gras Parade website at www.clarendon.org/mardi-gras/ for the latest updates in case of inclement weather.
