Former State Senator Mary Margaret Whipple Endorses Andrew Schneider

MMW_AFS_814x614Arlington, VA – Today, former State Senator, Arlington County Board Member and Arlington School Board Member Mary Margaret Whipple endorsed Andrew Schneider for the Democratic nomination for Arlington County Board.

Mrs. Whipple served as the Senator for Virginia’s 31st district from 1996- 2012 in addition to serving on the Arlington County Board from 1983-1995 and on the Arlington School Board from 1976-1980. She was chair of the County Board in 1986 and 1994 and served as chair of the School Board from 1978-1979.

“Andrew has the right combination of communication skills, tireless effort, and policy insight to help Arlington continue to meet its challenges and obligations as a world-class community.  I have been impressed with Andrew’s commitment to listen to all voices, his thoughtfulness, and his passion for Arlington.  I know he will make a superb County Board member,” said Senator Whipple.

“It is a high honor to be endorsed by Senator Whipple.  She is respected throughout Arlington and, indeed, the Commonwealth, as a leader who listens and gets results.  The results of her efforts on the School Board, County Board, and in the Senate are reaping dividends for all Arlingtonians today.  I hope to model my service in Arlington on her example of inclusiveness, diligence and relentless striving of excellence for our community,” said Mr. Schneider.

Andrew Schneider, 40, is seeking the Democratic nomination for one of two open seats on the Arlington County Board, in the June 9th primary. A lifelong Arlingtonian, Andrew is a graduate of Arlington public schools, the College of William & Mary, and earned his MBA from the University of Maryland. He works for the College of William & Mary working to engage the 20,000+ alumni who live in the Washington area. He also currently serves as the President of the Yorktown Civic Association and Vice Chair of Community Residences. He lives in the Yorktown neighborhood with his wife, Susan, and their children, Alan and Elizabeth.
