Officials investigating reports of people claiming to be from the Lottery and offering money in exchange for personal information

This is not a Virginia Lottery program.

The Virginia Lottery does not pay people for their personal information and will never ask someone to provide a photo, driver’s license or other sensitive information in exchange for money.

The Lottery strongly encourages everyone, whether or not they play the Lottery, to protect themselves: Do not share or sell personally identifiable information, including your photo, driver’s license image or other sensitive details. If someone claims to represent the Virginia Lottery and asks for this information in exchange for money, exercise caution and do not respond.

If you are approached with such an offer:

• Do not provide your information.
• Do not send a photo of your ID.
• Do not create an online Lottery account at someone else’s direction.
• Do not provide banking or payment information.
• Contact local law enforcement and the Virginia Lottery at 804-692-7777 if you believe you have been targeted.
