Lanham, MD–Safeway will unveil renovations to its Rosslyn store at 1525 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 10 am on Friday, July 12. Local dignitaries including Arlington County Board Vice Chair Libby Garvey and Rosslyn Business Improvement District President Mary-Claire Burick, are expected to join Safeway leaders for the celebration, which will also include live music from the New Line Brass Band, refreshments, and free gifts.

“We are pleased to share these significant renovations throughout the store that enhance our customers’ shopping experience,” said Tom Lofland, President of Safeway’s Eastern Division. “We have added new features, inside and out, that greatly expand our selections and appearance. Our Rosslyn customers will surely enjoy the newly renovated store.”

Ron Hill is Director of the remodeled store, which offers many enhancements.

The deli has expanded hot prepared food options, chef made sushi, and a larger salad bar. It also offers fresh sliced grab-and-go meat and cheese, as well as more than 10 flavors of wings from traditional Buffalo to salt and vinegar.

A new seafood service case has been added, with over 30 varieties and a wide selection, including fresh salmon, local seafood, and organic offerings. The meat department has more than 50 natural and organic items, featuring organic, grass-fed, and natural products such as Open Nature and O Organic chicken, beef, and lamb.

The produce department now features all new fixtures, and expanded refrigerated space allowing for more variety in both organic and conventional offerings. Additional space has also been added for fresh cut fruits and vegetables, as well as premium refrigerated juices and beverages, including kombucha.

The Rosslyn Safeway has added a full, baked-in-store bakery and is now offering fresh baked breads, cookies, and more treats and sweets. Fresh daily breakfast offerings include doughnuts, bagels, and pastries – all available on platters for morning meetings or guests. In addition to gourmet cupcakes, the bakery also now offers custom-made cakes for all occasions. A new Mochi ice cream case has also been added.

The full-service floral department has expanded offerings of fresh floral products, as well as home décor and fragrance selections, providing both FTD and local delivery. The department carries an assortment of blooming plants, as well as garden products such as soils and plant food. Safeway’s floral designers can create custom arrangements for any occasion. In addition to the array of live floral products, the department also has a large assortment of balloons, a full line of Debi Lilly glassware, and home goods that are trendy and affordable.

With this remodel, Safeway’s Rosslyn store has expanded the quantity and the variety of products across many general merchandise and health and beauty care categories, including natural and organic items. Safeway has installed new refrigerated cases throughout, and added more than 3,091 new products, including natural and/or organic goods.

The Starbucks cafe has also been expanded and updated.

The Rosslyn Safeway has increased space and selection in the beer and wine department, and the store has expanded the chilled wine section.

The renovations extend to the Safeway exterior, which now has a modern façade, as well as the parking garage, which has been painted, with new lighting added. Customers enter a new vestibule, in a freshly painted and modernized grocery store.

Traditional Safeway features include deli, bakery, floral, meat and seafood, and produce departments. The store also offers busy shoppers time-saving amenities including six new self-checkout counters, Safeway home delivery, and Instacart service with RUSH delivery. The Rosslyn Safeway, which operates from 6 am until 11 pm seven days a week, has a customer service desk at which customers can purchase money orders, send money via Western Union, and pay bills.

Safeway has a long and proud history of being a supportive member of the communities it serves. As part of the ribbon-cutting celebration, Safeway will further its legacy of philanthropy and community involvement by presenting donations to two local community organizations: A-Span and the Arlington Food Assistance Center.
