ARLINGTON — Arlington School Board Member Nancy Van Doren endorsed Reid Goldstein today, praising his extensive record of leadership with both Arlington Public Schools and Arlington County government.

“Reid Goldstein will be a tremendous asset on the Arlington School Board.” Van Doren said. “APS will invest significantly in south Arlington schools in the next ten years while continuing to address school capacity in every corner of the County. Reid’s knowledge of the entire Arlington community, his leadership skills, and extensive experience with both school and county government will be instrumental in leading us through these projects.”

Reid Goldstein has been active in the school community for over 20 years. His children attended north and south Arlington schools, neighborhood and choice schools. “Reid’s personal understanding of our unique school system, with its various choice and neighborhood programs, is key. He knows what our students need to be successful,” said Van Doren. “He has been actively involved at all school levels and helped families across the County navigate the entire K-12 experience,” she added. “When I served as PTA President at Jefferson, Reid re-invigorated the county-wide Parent Network, which enabled all of our PTAs to collaborate in offering useful, informative programs to our families. Reid is experienced at bringing people from diverse backgrounds together to make programs work.”

“Today, we must work closely with Arlington County government as we strengthen our partnership between the schools and community,” said Van Doren, re-stating a theme central to her own campaign for School Board last year. “Our school and community resources across the County must be fully utilized and shared by all our citizens. Reid’s experience on County commissions and as a civic association president, combined with his extensive schools experience, make him uniquely qualified at this time of intense school/county collaboration. His demonstrated track record in working on County and APS projects will be instrumental as we move forward to meet the needs of our expanding student population.”

Van Doren went on to say, “I strongly urge Arlington voters to select Reid Goldstein as the Democratic candidate for School Board at the Democratic Caucus in May.” The Democratic Caucus is scheduled for May 14 at Drew Model School from 7 pm- 9 pm and May 16 at Washington Lee High School from 11 am -7 pm.
