The latest two inductees in the Arlington Sports Hall of Fame are the first from any high-school soccer team, girls or boys, in the local sports pantheon’s nearly 70-year history.
The Oct. 8 induction dinner, held at the Knights of Columbus on Little Falls Road, enshrined Alberto Starace and Gabriella “Kika” Toulouse as the latest honorees in a hall of fame that stretches back to the 1950s.
It wasn’t a matter of if, but when, Alberto Starace — a highly accomplished girls high-school soccer coach — eventually would be inducted into the Arlington Sports Hall of Fame.
That time has come, with induction ceremonies slated for Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Knights of Columbus main hall.

Now, Bishop O’Connell Knights‘ head girls coach can add to the list his selection to the Arlington Sports Hall of Fame.
In a few days, Craig Esherick will be inducted into his second Hall of Fame in two years.
The evening of Oct. 19 at Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring, the Arlington resident and former Georgetown University men’s head basketball coach (and player) will be one of nine inductees into the Springbrook High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Maybe what Kas Allen said rang true for the other Arlington Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024 inductees, too.
The former Wakefield High School girls basketball standout mentioned in her acceptance talk that everything she learned about life had resulted from her involvement in athletics.
The banquet is set and the new inductees are ready to be honored.
The 2024 Arlington Sports Hall of Fame induction event is Wednesday, Oct. 9, beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the dinner and ceremony at 7:15 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
