Crime Report: Grand Theft Auto Edition

This week’s Arlington County crime report has an item that sounds like it could have happened in the video game Grand Theft Auto. Police say two men in a stolen car led them on a chase and then crashed.

GRAND LARCENY AUTO-ARREST 10/25/10, 4500 block of Fairfax Drive. On October 25 at 11:30 pm, two men were seen in a stolen vehicle. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled and crashed. Both suspects were apprehended. Gustavo Lopez, 18, of Annandale, was charged with Eluding, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Grand Larceny of an Automobile. Jesse Rodriguez, 21, of Arlington, was charged with Eluding and Grand Larceny of an Automobile. They were both held without bond.

Elsewhere, a dispute over a parking spot escalated to the point where police say one man drew a weapon.

BRANDISHING-ARREST 10/21/10, 5200 block of Lee Highway. On October 21 at 8:30 am, a man brandished a handgun at another man after an argument regarding parking. James Garvie, Sr., 72, of Arlington, was charged with brandishing a Weapon. He was released on a summons to appear in court.

ATTEMPT MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST 10/25/10, 1100 block of S. Eads Street. On October 25 at 8:50 am, two occupants of a vehicle argued. When the passenger attempted to take a picture of the vehicle, the driver struck him with the car. Gene McKinney, 59, of Manassas, was charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding. He was held without bond.

BURGLARY 10/23/10, 1900 block of S. Eads Street. Between 8:30 pm on October 22, and 1:30 am on October 23, an unknown person entered an apartment and stole electronics.

BURGLARY 10/23/10, 2500 block of N. 11th Street. Between 9 pm on October 22, and 8 am on October 23, an unknown person entered a residence through a basement door. No items were stolen. There are no known suspects.

BURGLARY 10/24/10, 900 block of S. Buchanan Street. On October 24 between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm, an unknown person entered an apartment through a window and stole jewelry. There is no suspect description.

BURGLARY 10/25/10, 2300 block of N. 11th Street. On October 25 between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm, an unknown person entered an apartment and stole electronics. There is no suspect description.

ATTEMPT BURGLARY 10/22/10, 3900 block of N. 4th Street. Between 8 am on September 22, and 12:30 am on October 22, an unknown person cut the screens to several apartment windows.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 10/23/10, 3400 block of N. Randolph Street and 3600 block of N. Piedmont Street. Between 6 pm on October 22, and 8 am on October 23, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in the same neighborhood and stole various items. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 10/26/10, 800 blocks of S. Oakland and S. Quincy Streets. On October 25 between midnight and 7:45 am, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in the same neighborhood and stole various items. There is no suspect description.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES) 10/20/10, 1800-1900 blocks of N. Dinwiddie Street and 1800 block of Culpeper Street. On October 20 between midnight and 6 am, an unknown person vandalized at least 22 cars in the same neighborhood by slashing tires. There is no suspect description.
