I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a Hamburger today.

  • Southeast Ben

HIs failed attempt leads me to believe its either worked before for him or is currently working with other inspectors? Hmmm…

    • drax

Really? That’s what it leads you to believe?

    • HarryB

Congratulations, you managed to turn an example of an Arlington official refusing to be corrupt into a sign that the system is corrupt. Well done, sir /s

      • drax

That’s how it works around here.

      • Southeast Ben

Thank you for understanding my sarcasm. I realize it is easily lost when replying on blogs.

        • drax

          Yeah, right. Sarcasm. Suuuuuuuuuure.

    • jan

Are there any housing violations filed against this guy?

  • The Dope of South Arlington

It annoys me when third-world immigrants bring their old-country customs to the USA.

    • DarkHeart

Yeah, none of that happens between 395 and the Folger Library.

      • Smilla

        +1 billion.

The Dope picked the right moniker.

  • edobson22207

this guy Ibrahim Abdullah is the worst slum landlord ever. He owns several properties in our neighborhood. Some he has converted from SF homes into triplexes. Others he rents out by the room to very unsavory people. If you have a run down over occupied house in your neighborhood, he might just own it.
PLEASE throw away the key and condemn his properties.

    • Happy Homeowner

      + 1

By Arlington standards, this guy is the worst kind of slum lord.

And he builds really ugly houses, too. At least he can’t find anyone to buy those. He lives in one.

The sad part is, I doubt this will stop his slum lord behavior in any way.

    • Tre

Curious as to what exactly “unsavory” refers to…

      • edobson22207

for the most part it is my opinion based on the nature of people who go in and out of a house. it covers a wide range of characters that you would generally not find in a single family neighborhood.

        • drax

So you mean you can tell just by looking at them.

        • JS

          YOU MEAN COLORED PEOPLE??

          • edobson22207

            no. i don’t mean that.

          • JS

Please, tell us more about how you judge books by their cover.

          • Savory is as Savory Does

“Unsavory” example number one: My next door neighbor, a 60-something guy, used to sit in his garage and deal dope to scraggly looking guys. My dog came in smelling so strongly of pot one day that I had to hide his biscuits. (Race: unimportant).
“Unsavory” example number two: Said neighbor, who was renting rooms out of his rented house, had a “tenant” who was an Arlington cab driver. The guy would drive all night and then hit the 7-11 for his daily 12 pack or case of beer. Then, every afternoon, right before leaving for his shift, we would hear the daily dump of the empties into the trash or recycling, and off he would go to drive his cab.
An ethical landlord would have had these bozos off his property….

  • Bob

edobson hit the nail on the head… if there is a rundown eyesore of a flophouse in your neighborhood, you can probably bet that Mr. Abdullah owns it…

  • Thes

A quick public records search shows the following properties have had activity related to someone named “Ibrahim Abdullah”. Some of them may have been sold since those records were generated. Some of the records may be in error. And there may be more than one person with that name. So, don’t draw any final conclusions based on this list…

    1117 N TAYLOR ST, 1215 N KIRKWOOD, 1219 N ABINGDON ST, 1241 N UTAH ST, 1320 N NELSON ST, 1705 N QUEBEC ST, 1714 N GLEBE RD, 4011 N 17 ST, 4503 N CARLIN SPRING RD, 4509 N CARLIN SPRINGS RD, 4741 WILSON BLVD, 4741 N WILSON BLVD 4700, 600 N VERMONT ST, 604 N VERMONT ST, 916 N LEBANON ST, 993 N QUINTANA ST

    • G Clifford Prout

Please keep him in beautiful Norfarlington.

    • jan

      Thanks!

    • Matt B

The property at 1117 N TAYLOR ST is a disaster and probably should be condemned. It would be great if Mr. Abdullah was forced to sell some of these properties to genuine home owners to pay his fines.

    • edobson22207

Great info. Thank you. I only knew of 3-4. Hope the county can do something.

  • Ballston Resident

Congratulations to the County Inspector! So good to see things work the way they should.

  • PikerGirl

I wonder how much bribe was offered. Now Mr. Abdullah has to come up with a $5000 bond for his mistake. And he still has to deal with the violations. Kudos to the Arlington county employee for reporting this guy.

    • ArlingtonBorn

      Speaking of cheaters:

I have a neighbor who works for the county who has friends/famiily who also work for the county in various departments. They give him deals, such as a low residential property value, so he pays way less taxes than he should. (We live in townhouses that are essentially identical). He also drives around with his family in the county car.

I also had a neighbor who boarded a complete family with 4 children who attended Arlington County Public Schools, though their official address was Woodbridge. I called the school system to report it, but nothing was done.

      • Just the Facts

This quite an accusation…intentionally lowering a real estate assessment to benefit a friend or family member. How about posting some facts to back it up?

  • Carmen Scott Dawson

I lived in 1241 North Utah Street in 2004. It was the worst experience in my entire life. The basement was his storage bin and still contatins possessions of mine. I moved into the house and it started out ok because there was only one person in the house and he was an loner 40 year old and kept to himself to the extent I never saw him prior to moving in. Then the horror began before I knew it there was crackheads living in the house who would party all night. Ibrahim illegally signed me up for a utility that I had to collect from the roommates who had no money ever. One utility he paid he asked us all to pay collectively. As I mentioned none of them had money. Next thing you know Ibrahim shows up with a Arlington Court Document and insisted he was going to continue with court proceedings against me because he knew I could get my hands on money. As it turns out it was a forged Citation document. Next thing I knew the folks we sleeping on my leather couches and having crack parties. I had lymes disease and was under a ton of medical stress and needed to move home to Erie for care. It turns out that I had to pay storage for my things and the our communications got screwy. I was seriously ill and he ended up STEALING $6000 Leather Couches, Collection of 80 Polo and Tony Hilfiger Shirts, Fridge, Stereo. CAN ANYONE REPRESENT ME? Or know how I can contact someone who could prosecute this guy?
