Compose a Haiku About Artisphere, Drink for Free

It seems that we made yesterday’s contest for free Burst @ Artisphere tickets a bit too esoteric. Turns out, no one was able to find unintentional art around Arlington.

So we’ll make this easier.

Compose a haiku about Artisphere and put it in the comments section. We’ll pick the one we like the best tomorrow afternoon. The winner gets their name on the list for free entry to Saturday’s open-bar-and-music extravaganza at Artisphere.

Thank you to our friends at Brightest Young Things for supplying the tickets.

Update at 3:40 p.m. — Congrats to Evan, who wins the two free tickets (a $40 value!) for the following Artisphere haiku:

Newseum no more
But its legacy remains
Spell check confounded

Thank you to all our participants!

  • Kirk Elliott

    artisphere you’re great
    greatness only exceeded
    by perfect roundness

  • Masaoka

    Art in spherical
    Autumn orb glowing bright for

  • Greg

    Artisphere so full
of art like a big pimple
    itching to be popped

    • John Antonelli

      You get my vote

      • Greg

Ahh… but is it a knock on the Artisphere or an irreverent endorsement? Art is so enigmatic…. πŸ˜‰

  • Evan

    Newseum no more
    But its legacy remains
    Spell check confounded

    • SoArlRes

      Bravo!!! You win.

      • SoArlRes

Or at least have my vote…

        • RestonRunner86

Mine too! That one made me chuckle the most! πŸ˜›

    • We have a winner

  • Carole

    What once was newsy
    Arlington now claims super star
    Shiny round all ours

  • John Antonelli

    Artospehre you waste of cash
when I find whose silly idea this is his head I’ll bash
This second waste of Rosslyn Art space
is truly an Arlington County Board disgrace

    • RestonRunner86

      Somebody needs a hug! πŸ™‚

    • cj

      How cute, perhaps
      Haiku — no way

  • PikeHoo

    A-town art is home
And is living in the dome
    Don’t show up alone

  • James B

    Liven up the scene:
The arts and music will glean
    In ‘Sphere of Rosslyn

  • Andrew

    Giant golf ball teed
Just a chip shot from metro
    Arlington birdies

    • rosita

      Love it!

  • Ray

    Big igloo opens
    Makes ARLnow headlines
    Will haiku for tix

    • You’re our runner up! Which doesn’t mean anything practical. But thanks for the laugh.

  • Kristen

    Not contained by four corners
    And not for the square.

    • RestonRunner86

Meh. I’m “square”, and I think this place is pretty nifty! πŸ™‚

  • Thes

    Brooklyn of D.C.
    Opens arts facility
    World class through round shape?

    • RestonRunner86

I actually like this one a lot. πŸ™‚ Rosslyn isn’t really the Brooklyn of DC, though. Brooklyn has character. Rosslyn? Eh. Rosslyn can be the Jersey City or White Plains of DC.

      • John Antonelli

Actually Rosslyn is advertised as Manhattan on the Potomac

        • RestonRunner86

Really? No slight intended towards Rosslyn, but I’m very familiar with both and will never quite see the comparison to Manhattan as being very accurate. It has a lot of mid-rise and high-rise buildings but relatively little street activity in comparison. I’ll stick with my “White Plains on the Potomac.” πŸ™‚

  • RestonRunner86

    Rosslyn’s dream achieved
    A striking artsy venue
    Vote for my haiku!

  • Morgan

    Beffuddled by dome
What is held inside that sphere?
    Artisphere, who knew?

  • BallstonNOTBoston

    Art makes me fart.
    Beer does the same.
    If I win these tickets,
The artisphere will feel my pain.

    • RestonRunner86

Sounds like you’ll really clear the place out if you win! LOL! πŸ˜‰

  • RosslynResident

    New in Arlington:
Thousands of feet of art space
    Artisphere is open!

  • Matt!

    I want to drink free
    In spherical worlds of art.
    It will be a burst!

  • Tim

    Booze, beauty, bounty.
    Architectural wonder.
    Rosslyn or New York?
