Sewage has leaked from a private building into Doctors Run, also known as Doctors Branch, Arlington County said Wednesday morning.

The county is advising people and pets to avoid contact with the stream, a tributary of Four Mile Run, until further notice. From an Arlington Alert:

The Arlington County Department of Environmental Services reports the possible release of sewage from a private building into the storm drains system. They are advising that humans and pets avoid contact with the water in Doctors Branch from Alcova Heights Park located at South 8th st. and George Mason Drive to Four Mile Run at Barcroft Park for several days to allow flushing of the stream.

Just rename it “Doctors Runs.” Problem solved.

    We need a map!

Is this similar to what happened at the Harris Teeter on the corner of Route 1 & S Glebe?

    • ipitythefool

I remember that. So nasty. I know they cleaned it up but I can never go grocery shopping there again.

      • drax

On the other hand, when it finally opens it will be the cleanest grocery in the world, for a while. Freshly scrubbed.

        • AJR

My boyfriend told me that he saw on the local news that the Harris Teeter had been cleaned four times so I agree with drax, it won’t get much cleaner than that in the beginning. The news story also mentioned they were delaying opening until they can work something out with the sewer company to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I wonder if it is the same company, same problem…

Stupid me, I thought this must have been about the County Board all bathing at the same time.

You are deducted one full FREDTERP for lack of creativity.

mr meow appears to be someone that we used to know–albeit a much mellower version..

I agree-the meds must have kicked in after the recent intervention after the election. Not appropriate to identify the alter ego at this time but I think I know who you are referring to.

I don’t plan to blow his cover, but I want my share of the pool for the ID. Why aren’t you in the kitchen getting read for the big day!

          • Glebe Roader

Do his initials start with En Ess?

  • Mike

Unplanned release of raw, nasty sewage is usually more common with Lawyers Run than Doctors Run

Anyone know who the ‘private retailer or building’ is?

Closest buildings other than private homes upstream from from Alcova Heights Park are the National Foreign Affairs Training Center and the Army National Guard Readiness Center located on South George Mason Drive.
