Crime Report: Breakup Turns Violent

Arlington police carA man savagely beat his girlfriend when she tried to break up with him, according to this week’s Arlington County crime report.

The incident happened early Saturday morning on the 3000 block of Columbia Pike. Police say the man, who is in his 20s, repeatedly kicked the victim in the head, knocking her unconscious. She sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police declined to identify the suspect, who is still at large, because it could reveal who the victim is. From ACPD:

AGGRAVATED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 140426013, 3000 block of S. Columbia Pike. Between 1:30 and 2:30 am on April 26, a subject violently assaulted his girlfriend when she attempted to end their relationship. The subject stole her car and left her unconscious. Warrants for the subjects arrest have been issued.

ROBBERY, 140429043, 1200 block of N. Fort Myer Drive. At 4:54 pm on April 29, a subject concealed two bottles of wine in his waistband and exit a convenience store. A store employee confronted him at the exit and the subject assaulted the victim. An off-duty police officer witnessed the incident and restrained the subject until police arrived. Yander Grihalba Flores, 24, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with robbery. He was held without bond.

BRANDISHING, 140425062, 100 block of S. Barton Street. At 6:16 pm on April 25, a subject brandished a firearm and threatened a victim after an argument escalated. Charles Anderson, 31, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with brandishing, assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon. He is currently being held without bond.

MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 140423016, 4600 block of S. King Street. On April 23 at 9:03am, a subject was seen throwing a rock through the front door of Popeyes Restaurant. The suspect then fled the scene. He is described as a black male in his twenties. At the time of the incident he was wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, and had a red and black backpack.

BURGLARY, 140424024, 3800 block of N. Fairfax Drive. Between 2:30 pm on April 22 and 10:15 am on April 24, an unknown subject(s) entered a business and stole two Macbook laptops. There is no suspect(s) description.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 140423022, 3600 block of N. Harrison Street. On April 23 at 12:00pm, a victim reported that overnight that someone had damaged the keyhole of the lock on the front door of her house. There is no suspect description.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 140423026, 4500 block of S. 28th Road. On April 23 at 12:35pm, a victim reported that when she came home there were muddy footprints around her bathroom and kitchen. There were no signs of forced entry and the door was locked. No items were taken. There is no suspect information at this time.
