Crime Report: Cigarette Thieves Get Burned

Two men allegedly stole cigarettes from the Clarendon CVS store early Monday morning and an employee chased after them. The employee’s suspect description helped police make two arrests shortly after.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

ROBBERY, 140804010, 3100 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 5:25 am on August 4, two male subjects stole cigarettes from a CVS. An employee chased the subjects on foot and was able to identify them for arriving police officers. Ronald Richardson, 53, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with robbery and possession of stolen goods with the intent to sell. Melvin Bradshaw, 47, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with robbery, possession of stolen goods with the intent to sell, and carrying a concealed weapon.

ROBBERY, 140803057, 2300 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At 10:00 pm on August 2, a 48 year-old male victim was assaulted and robbed of his phone and wallet by two unknown suspects. Suspect one is described as a black male in his mid-twenties, 6’0″ tall and 180 lbs. He was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, and had a black beard. Suspect two is described as black male in his mid-twenties, 6’0″ tall and 180 lbs. He was wearing a black t-shirt, jeans, and had a black beard.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 140803022, 2500 block of N. 20th Road. At approximately 11:15 am on August 3, a 24 year-old female victim was assaulted by a known subject. Tyrell Wilson, 29, of Gaithersburg MD, was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding. He is being held without bond.

ARSON, 140803007, 3100 block of N. 10th Street. At approximately 2:07 am on August 3, an unknown suspect(s) started a fire in a trashcan behind a business. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 140803012, 2700 block of S. 8th Street. At approximately 2:45 am on August 3, a known suspect entered a window of a residence and attempted to steal items. Santos Vasquez-Romero, 22, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with burglary. He is being held without bond.

BURGLARY, 140803038, 1400 block of N. Nash Street. Between 6:00 pm on August 2 and 3:38 pm on August 3, an unknown suspect(s) pried open two washing machine coin boxes and stole a bicycle. There is no suspect(s) description.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 140731029, 1900 block of N Taylor St. A house sitter reported finding a broken basement window and a repositioned window well cover. It was unknown at the time of the report if any items had been stolen. There is no suspect(s) description.
