Crime Report: Woman Wakes Up to Find Burglar in Kitchen

Police car (file photo)A woman woke up early Monday morning to find a man in her kitchen, stealing from her.

The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. at a home near East Falls Church. The suspect fled was was soon found by police and taken into custody.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

BURGLARY, 151207009, 2400 block of N. Potomac Street. At approximately 3:45 a.m. on December 7, a female victim awoke to an unknown male subject in her kitchen. The subject fled out the back door taking an undisclosed amount of cash. Shortly after, officers located a subject matching the suspect description and found items belonging to the victims on him. Michael Edward Thomas, 25, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance, petit larceny, and possession of marijuana. He is being held without bond.

ARMED ROBBERY, 151205039, 200 block of S. 20th Street. At approximately 10:30 p.m. on November 24, a 35 year-old male victim was approached from behind and assaulted by an unknown male subject who allegedly brandished a firearm. There is no suspect(s) description.

BREAKING & ENTERING, 151207019, 2200 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. Between 11:00 a.m. on December 6 and 8:30 a.m. on December 7, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a building and stole a laptop along with damaging a file cabinet. There is no suspect(s) description.

Grief work is personal for Jane. She’s a host with The Dinner Party, a national non-profit reducing the isolation & stigma for grieving 20 & 30-something’s with live and virtual sit-down dinners.

Jane is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked for over 10 years in technology philanthropy. Jane obtained her bachelor’s in American Studies from George Washington University.
