If you are reading this just after midnight on Saturday, it might be because your phone just buzzed mercilessly to alert you to a new Flash Flood Warning.
The National Weather Service issued the warning for all but the northernmost tip of Arlington. It is in effect through 3 a.m.
Another round of very heavy rain is making its way through Arlington and surrounding communities and forecasters say that flash flooding “is expected to begin shortly.”
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR… THE CITY OF FAIRFAX IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA… ARLINGTON COUNTY IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA… THE CITY OF FALLS CHURCH IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA… CENTRAL FAIRFAX COUNTY IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA… THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA… * UNTIL 300 AM EDT * AT 1207 AM EDT, DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED ANOTHER ROUND OF HEAVY RAIN PIVOTING ACROSS THE AREA. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES ARE POSSIBLE. FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY. * SOME LOCATIONS THAT MAY EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE… ARLINGTON, ALEXANDRIA, CENTREVILLE, RESTON, ANNANDALE, SPRINGFIELD, FAIRFAX, FORT HUNT, VIENNA, GROVETON, FALLS CHURCH, HUNTINGTON, MANTUA, FORT BELVOIR, PIMMIT HILLS, REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT, ROSSLYN, CRYSTAL CITY, BURKE AND OAKTON. St. Charles offers a play-based curriculum in a welcoming, Christ-centered environment.
