Crime Report: Woman Wakes Up to Find Intruder in Home

A woman woke up early Tuesday morning to the sound of a man breaking things inside of her home.

The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. yesterday, on the 600 block of 23rd Street S. in the Aurora Highlands neighborhood, just west of Crystal City.

Police were called and the man, an Alexandria resident, was arrested by officers.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2017-10030017, 600 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 2:16 a.m. on October 3, police were dispatched to the report of a breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that a female victim had awoken to noise coming from inside her residence. The victim confronted a male suspect in the hallway and called police. Items were reported damaged inside the residence, but nothing was reported missing. The victim was uninjured. Nelson Flores, 37, of Alexandria, VA, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry.

BURGLARY (late), 2017-10020163, 600 block of N. Illinois Street. At approximately 2:18 p.m. on October 2, police responded to the report of a late burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that between September 29 at approximately 5:00 p.m. and October 1 at approximately 3:00 p.m., an unknown suspect gained entry to a residence and stole items of value. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY, 2017-09290250, 6000 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 6:40 p.m. on September 29, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just discovered. Upon arrival it was determined that between 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., an unknown suspect gained entry to a residence and moved items around. Nothing of value was taken. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2017-09300030, 200 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 2:13 a.m. on September 30, police were dispatched to the report of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male suspect approached a female victim outside a restaurant, brandished a knife and demanded she give him a cigarette. A security guard at the restaurant intervened and detained the suspect until police arrived. Yordli Cabrera Lopez, 24, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery and Drunk in Public. He was held on no bond.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 2017-09280071, 0099, 0105, 0242, 1500-1600 blocks of N. Colonial Terrace and 1500 block of 19th Street N. Between 10:00 p.m. on September 27 and 8:00 a.m. on September 28, an unknown suspect(s) gained entry to at least eight mostly unlocked vehicles and stole items of value. There is no suspect(s) descriptions. The investigation is ongoing.

BOMB THREAT, 2017-09280223, 1100 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 6:02 p.m. on September 28, the Emergency Communications Center received a call from an unknown male subject reporting a bomb inside of a building. Responding police units searched the building with negative results. The investigation is ongoing.
