Arena Complicates Route 1 Plan — “When Virginia officials managed to woo Amazon to open its second headquarters in Arlington, they sweetened the deal with a big transportation promise: They would push to lower an elevated highway — a six-lane, gridlocked eyesore that cuts the area in two — and add stoplights and sidewalks… Yet, as Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) tries to secure another billion-dollar deal just two miles down the road in Alexandria — a new arena for the Washington Wizards and the Washington Capitals — that expected makeover now presents a major speed bump.” [Washington Post]

Robbery in Crystal City — “A man was taken to the hospital after he was reportedly assaulted and robbed by three other men in the Crystal City area early Saturday morning, according to the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD). Police said three unknown men in dark clothing approached the male victim at around 1:12 a.m. as he exited a business along the 300 block of 23rd Street South.” [WJLA]

Another Gun Caught at DCA — “A Fredericksburg woman was prevented from carrying a loaded handgun onto a flight leaving Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Friday morning. Transportation Security Administration officers were alerted to the firearm, after the X-Ray Unit at an airport security checkpoint detected the firearm among the woman’s carry-on items.” [Patch]
