Oyster Bar Coming to Pentagon City — “King Street Oyster Bar has inked a deal for a new location near the planned next phase of Amazon.com Inc.’s second headquarters. The restaurant chain, launched in 2014 by Rick Allison and Jorge Esguerra, will open its sixth location inside the Sage at National Landing, a 20-story multifamily building at 480 11th St. S. in Pentagon City. An early 2025 debut is planned.” [Washington Business Journal]

Waste Collection Fee Rising — “Arlington County Board members on Feb. 27 are expected to advertise for a later public hearing a proposal to increase the county government’s residential trash-and-recycling fee. Under the proposal, the annual cost for trash collection and recycling services would rise from $406.14 to $415.75 per household to account for higher costs.” [Gazette Leader]

Reminder: Feel the Heritage Festival — “Arlington’s 30th annual Feel the Heritage Festival will be held on Sat., Feb. 24, 2024 from noon-5 p.m. at Charles Drew Community Center. The festival welcomes hundreds each year to learn about the Arlington’s historically African-American neighborhoods while enjoying live entertainment, delicious food and dozens of vendors.” [Arlington County]

Wakefield Wins District Tourney — “The No. 1-seed Warriors (20-4) recently won the Liberty District tourney with a 2-0 record, following a first-round bye. Wakefield won each high-school contest at home, defeating the Yorktown Patriots, 69-59, in the semifinals then second-seed Marshall Statesmen, 38-32, in the title tilt.” [Gazette Leader]

Union Opposes Alexandria Arena — “The powerful AFL-CIO labor union will oppose a proposal to move the Washington Capitals and Wizards from downtown D.C. to a new arena in Northern Virginia, the group said Tuesday, dealing another blow to a plan that is already facing increasingly tall hurdles among legislators in Richmond.” [Washington Post]
