Goodwill Development Approved — “On Saturday, the Arlington County Board unanimously approved plans from Goodwill and Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) for a 128-unit development at the site of the Goodwill retail store and donation center at the intersection of South Glebe Road and Arlington Boulevard.” [UrbanTurf]

Board Takes No Position on Gaza — “Arlington County Board members on Feb. 24 decided against getting into the foreign-policy arena, turning down a request to issue a resolution calling for a cease-fire in ongoing fighting between Israel and Hamas. The request came during the board’s public-comment period, and as board members knew of the subject matter in advance, County Board Chairman Libby Garvey was ready with a response.” [Gazette Leader]

Local GOP Speaks Out — “Every so often, Matthew Hurtt receives concerning emails. The subject lines are each slightly different: ‘Stop charging my account,’ ‘Urgent!’ and ‘Donation not approved,’ but the people who send them all want the same thing: to halt the Republican political contribution platform WinRed from making any more automatic, recurring withdrawals from their accounts. Hurtt is chairman of the Virginia-based Arlington County Republican Committee and says he’s reviewed a ‘few dozen’ of these types of emails since the 2020 election.” [CNBC]

More Flight Slots for DCA? — “The ongoing debate over the number of flights in and out of Reagan National Airport appears to be heating up again. Earlier this month, when it reauthorized funding for the Federal Aviation Administration, the Senate Commerce Committee agreed to add five more slots for long-distance flights to Reagan National Airport.” [WTOP]

Wakefield Defeated in Semis — “Their season ended a few games short of what they’d hoped, but overall the 2023-24 boys high-school basketball campaign was a big improvement from the last couple for the Wakefield Warriors. Wakefield finished with a 21-5 record, concluding play with a 59-53 home loss to the Madison Warhawks in a physical and seesaw semifinal clash of the 6D North Region tournament.” [Gazette Leader]
