Update on Pentagon City Killing — “The deceased have been identified as Nadejda Mossor, 22, and Jason Han, 37, of Arlington, VA. They were in a relationship. This remains an active investigation.” [ARLnow]

Chase Ends in I-395 Wreck — From Dave Statter: “[Virginia State Police] forced a vehicle they were chasing to crash on I-395N at S. Glebe Rd. The not-so-clear traffic camera video shows the vehicle heading down the hillside toward Glebe. It took a few minutes to get whoever was inside to surrender. At least one trooper was injured during a crash before the PIT (precision immobilization technique) that was used to end the chase.” [Twitter]

Arlington Teens Arrested in D.C. — “Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested four teens, including two from Arlington, in connection with the attempted robbery of a jacket at a bus stop in Washington, D.C. Officers responded around 3:36 p.m., on Tuesday, to the 300 block of M Street, Southwest for the the report of of an attempted robbery. The victim told officers that he was waiting at a bus stop at 4th and Maine Avenue, Southwest, when four suspects surrounded him and demanded that he hand over his jacket.” [Patch]

Update on DCA Lounge Openings — “Every month, I get a newsletter as part of my volunteering with Travelers Aid International. As I was reading it, I noticed a section that covered future restaurant and lounge openings. Tucked away in the list is both the American Express Lounge and Capital One Landing opening in Q2 2024.” [Professor of Points]

Halls Hill Historic Designation Push — “Efforts to make the Halls Hill/High View Park community Arlington’s 24th neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places will continue with a community update on the efforts… Inclusion… does not provide any official protection against redevelopment efforts, although it is a step on the process for a local area to become eligible for federal tax credits that encourage preservation.” [Gazette Leader]

I-66 Lane Closures Planned — “Eastbound I-66 between the Fairfax Drive/Glebe Road exit (Exit 71) and the Route 29/Spout Run Parkway exit (Exit 72) will have single-lane closures, weather permitting, from 10 p.m. Friday, March 8 to 5 a.m. Saturday, March 9 to implement a traffic shift, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.” [Press Release]

Noted YHS Employee Retires — “On Feb. 1, a big change and large void began at Yorktown High School when longtime employee Cheryl Stotler officially retired. She stepped down after working 29 years at the Arlington school in dual roles as an administrator and administrative assistant in the athletic office.” [Gazette Leader]

Another Planned Flyover — From AlertDC: “The US Military will be conducting a flyover at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday March 8, 2024, at 11:50AM.”
