A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision in Arlington’s Maywood neighborhood tonight.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Thursday on the 3300 block of 22nd Street N., a narrow street with houses, a small park and a sidewalk on one side.
Initial reports suggest that the driver of a red sedan, possibly a Toyota Prius, struck a man who was then found bleeding on the street by passersby. The driver was said to be delivering food in the neighborhood, according to scanner traffic, and the collision was reportedly at a low enough speed that the vehicle was believed to have little to no damage.
The victim was conscious and breathing when first responders arrived but reportedly suffered serious injuries, including a potential head injury. The driver fled the scene.
Police are now asking local residents to check home surveillance for possible footage of the vehicle or the crash, which can then be uploaded online.
“The investigation is ongoing,” said Arlington County police.
Community members near the crash scene are asked to check their home surveillance for video of a red sedan traveling in the area. Video and photos that may assist the investigation can be uploaded using our evidence submission portal:https://t.co/5XeDsN5Xh6
