A 70-year-old Arlington woman is facing a pair of felony charges after a confrontation at a condo building allegedly turned violent.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. Friday on the 3000 block of Spout Run Parkway, an address that corresponds with the Cardinal House Condominiums.
Arlington County police say the woman had a verbal dispute with a man inside an elevator. According to a crime report, she prevented the man from leaving and then sprayed him with pepper spray.
It is unclear what prompted the dispute.
The woman was arrested and is now out on bond on charges of abduction and malicious wounding by caustic agent, according to court records. She’s due back in court for an arraignment on Thursday.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY CAUSTIC AGENT, 2024-05240134, 3000 block of Spout Run Parkway. At approximately 1:57 p.m. on May 24, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with injury. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim entered an elevator inside a residential building when the female suspect approached, allegedly prevented the doors from closing and kept the victim from exiting. A verbal dispute between the suspect and victim ensued during which the suspect pepper sprayed the victim. The victim exited the elevator and called police. Medics responded and treated and released the victim on scene for injuries consistent with exposure to pepper spray. The victim then responded to the Office of the Magistrate and obtained criminal warrants for the suspect, who was located on scene and taken into custody. [The suspect], 70, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding by Caustic Agent and Abduction.
Also in the latest ACPD crime report, another dispute in a residential building — in the Shirlington area Saturday evening — led to violence and resulted in serious injuries.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2024-05250197, 4400 block of 31st Street S. At approximately 5:09 p.m. on May 25, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined Subject One was inside his residence when Subject Two, began yelling outside the home. Subject One then exited his residence and confronted Subject Two during which a verbal dispute ensued that escalated to a physical altercation, resulting in lacerations to both subjects. Subject One sustained non-life threatening injuries and Subject Two sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
On Sunday night, meanwhile, six cars were reported stolen from a business in the Pentagon City neighborhood. The address corresponds with a temporary location for a rental car agency.
GRAND LARCENY AUTO, 2024-05260168, 600 block of 12th Street S. At approximately 8:35 p.m. on May 26, police were dispatched to the report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined six vehicles were stolen from a business. There are no suspect(s) descriptions. The investigation is ongoing.
