There was a large police presence at a North Arlington condo building this evening.
ARLnow saw a number of Arlington County police cruisers outside of the Carlyn Place condo building at 4390 Lorcom Lane, near the Lee Heights Shops, around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. It followed what was described as a “domestic” incident earlier in the afternoon, involving someone tossing items out of one of the units, hitting cars below.
The items could still be seen scattered in the parking lot, with one officer keeping people away from the scene. Another officer could be seen in the lobby of the building.
The exact nature of the ongoing incident — whether it’s a standoff or otherwise — was not immediately clear.
“ACPD responded to the 4300 block of Lorcom Lane for the report of a subject who threw items from a balcony,” police spokeswoman Ashley Savage told ARLnow around 6:45 p.m. “Police remain on scene investigation the circumstances of the incident.”
Well over a dozen police and fire department vehicles were on scene as of 10:30 p.m., including a bomb squad unit. Savage told ARLnow that ACPD’s Emergency Response Team is “assisting with the ongoing investigation” but there are “no evacuations related to this incident.”
“Police continue to work to safely resolve the incident,” she said late Wednesday night.
At 11:15 p.m., Savage said the suspect was taken in custody.
In a crime report released Thursday afternoon, below, police said the 37-year-old suspect exposed himself on the condo balcony and made “threats to burn the building.”
