Outdoor Lab Documentary — “A great-granddaughter of the founder of the Arlington Outdoor Lab has embarked on a documentary about the Fauquier County facility, which for more than 60 years has provided Arlington students the opportunity to learn about nature while having fun.” [Gazette Leader]

Another Gun Caught at DCA — “While searching the carry-on items of a Capitol Heights man at an airport checkpoint, TSA officers found a 5.7 caliber firearm loaded with 23 bullets, including one in the chamber. The traveler told officials that he’d forgotten that he had the firearm with him.” [Patch]

YHS Lax Player Sets Records — “An even (and team-record-setting) 300 career points was the final total Hudson Greene compiled in four seasons playing boys varsity lacrosse for the Yorktown Patriots high-school team. In addition to being the team’s career leader in points, Greene also is Yorktown’s all-time leader in goals scored with 166 and assists for 134.” [Gazette Leader]

DJO Has New Girls Hoops Coach — “Having coached various high-school basketball teams over the years, Kosa So thought his involvement on that level of the sport had ended. Then, some players he knows encouraged So to apply for Bishop O’Connell High School head varsity girls coaching position that opened in recent weeks. So gave that some thought, applied and was chosen from 55 applicants as the Knights’ new head girls coach.” [Gazette Leader]

New Mural Near Fairlington — “Peace, community involvement and childhood innocence are the themes of the new mural at the Bradlee Shopping Center. Alexandria City High School art students helped muralists Nicole Bourgea and sef.01 create the mural  depicting three kids surrounded by flowers and childlike drawings.” [ALXnow]
