Police are searching for a suspect after a man was reportedly slashed in the face in Ballston.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, when a physical altercation between three men began outside the Hilton hotel at 950 N. Stafford Street, according to scanner traffic.
One man stole another man’s bag and fled the scene on a bicycle, according to an ACPD crime report. When the victim caught up to the suspect, scanner traffic indicates that the suspect produced a knife and slashed the victim’s face before fleeing on foot.
The victim was treated on scene but was not transported to the hospital.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING,2024-09080167, 900 block of N. Stafford Street. At approximately 9:27 p.m. on September 8, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male victim was sitting on a bench when the male suspect stole his bag and fled the scene on a bike. The victim subsequently located the suspect in the area of N. Stafford Street and N. Fairfax Drive and they became involved in a physical altercation during which the male suspect struck the victim with a sharp object before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released by medics on the scene. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, approximately 40-50 years old with a beard wearing a black jacket. The investigation is ongoing.
Also in the crime report, a local man was arrested Saturday night and charged with exposing himself near Columbia Pike and S. Jefferson Street — at least the third such incident in Arlington this month.
The 49-year-old suspect also faces assault and battery and drunk in public charges, police said.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2024-09070247, Columbia Pike at S. Jefferson Street. At approximately 9:46 p.m. on September 7, police were dispatched to the report of an indecent exposure. The preliminary investigation indicates the female victim was walking in the area when they male suspect allegedly exposed himself. The suspect then threatened to harm a second victim walking in the area. Responding officers located the suspect on scene and took him into custody. [The suspect], 49, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure, Assault & Battery and Drunk in Public.
