Police recovered two firearms, including an AR-style rifle, and numerous rounds of ammunition after responding to a reported domestic dispute near Clarendon.
The incident occurred around 9:18 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday) at an apartment building in the 900 block of N. Ivy Street in Ashton Heights, according to ACPD’s latest crime report.
A caller had initially reported a domestic violence incident, according to scanner traffic. After knocking on the door to the suspect’s residence, however, arriving officers heard the noise of “a firearm slide being racked,” police said — meaning that a round had likely been chambered in the gun.
Police established a perimeter around the property before the department’s Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant of the residence. A 56-year-old Arlington man was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm as well as assault and battery.
