The Loft at Lena’s — Havana 151, inconspicuously tucked away on the second floor of neighborhood favorite, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, makes guests feel as if they’ve stepped into a sultry, elegant supper club with a Latin/Cuban flair.
The minute diners step off the elevator, they are immersed in rich and decadent decor reminiscent of an Old Havana luxury hotel of the 1940/50s.
What’s possibly even more stunning than Havana 151’s captivating decor is that the restaurant was built in less than five days. The Loft at Lena’s — a pop-up restaurant of sorts that changes concepts semi-annually is taken down nearly to the studs, and rebuilt with new paint, wall coverings, furniture, lighting, plates, glassware, and more with each new concept. Havana 151 is the fifth concept that has transformed the space at The Loft at Lena’s in nearly four years.
With all the careful attention given to the décor, one would think nothing would be left over for the menu, but Havana 151’s experience menu is where unforgettable food and drink collide, bringing a taste of Cuba to Alexandria. From shrimp and white fish Ceviche and sautéed Havana Mussels with garlic and white wine to Seafood Paella with shrimp, calamari, mussels, and sausage and Birria Tacos with slow-cooked beef, the menu does not disappoint.
A visit to The Loft at Lena’s wouldn’t be complete without one of the show-stopping cocktails they’ve become known for. The playful cocktail menu includes the Havana 151 Scorpion Bowl — a delicious and seductive cocktail that features over-proof 151 rum for which the new experience is named.
Other Cuban-inspired cocktails that make the experience complete are the Smoked El Presidente, featuring Ron Zacapa 23 Year, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, and house-made grenadine, and the Cuba Libre, with Havana Club Rum, Cointreau, and Mexican Cola.
