Arlington Arsenal 9-under travel baseball team wins a local fall World Series tournament

The Arlington Travel Baseball 9-under Arsenal team defeated the Mount Vernon Mavericks, 14-1, to win the local Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League fall World Series championship at Patriot Park in Fairfax.

The Arsenal downed the top-seeded Stars 9U Ritter, 7-4, in the semifinals.

The semifinal win was sparked by pitching from starter Sami Robbins and timely hits and walks in the second inning by Cooper Fabrizio, Leo Starke and George Smith. Robbins kept the Stars in check by striking out seven batters and allowing no earned runs.

In the championship game, Brody Lawries dominated on the mound, allowing no hits and striking out six. Mateo Flores replaced Lawrie on the mound and finished the game.

Other contributing Arsenal players were Brendan Andrews, Declan Kennedy, Ridley Schneider, Miguel dos Santos Bastos, Andrew Solander and Marco Margiotta.

The Arsenal coaches were Dan Branch, Megan Starke, Phil Fabrizio and Dan Schneider.
