Three standout senior girls field-hockey players who helped the Yorktown Patriots win a 2024 state championship were honored with Class 6 all-state selections.
Senior forward Elena Reiser was chosen as the Virginia High School League Player of the Year at the Class 6 level. Reiser scored 15 goals, had nine assists and took 62 shots in 22 games for Yorktown, which finished 18-4 in winning its second straight state title and third in four seasons.
Reiser scored one of most important her goals in Yorktown’s 2-1 overtime victory against the Fairfax Lions in the state semifinals.
Reiser was chosen to the first team along with senior teammate Olivia Stafford, who led Yorktown in goals with 20 and shots with 66. She also had nine assists.
Stafford scored a goal in both the state final and semifinal, and had an assist in the Patriots’ first-round state victory.
Yorktown senior forward Quincy Greene was selected to the all-state second team. Greene scored 11 goals, had four assists and took 26 shots.
The three Yorktown players were the only ones from Arlington high schools to be chosen all-state. Reiser, Stafford and Greene also made all-district and all-region teams.
Yorktown also won Liberty District regular-season and tournament championships this season, finishing second to Oakton in the 6D North Region tournament en route to winning the state crowns.
