From cider tasting to ice skating, Water Park in Crystal City has some wintery activities planned this holiday season, starting this week.
Following a tree lighting at 6 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday), a Wine & Cider Festival featuring beverages and charcuterie pairings is happening from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday.
The festival’s drinks come from California-based Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards, and Neyah, a sparkling wine company from Wisconsin. The Arlington Philharmonic will set the mood with some live holiday tunes.
“It’s the perfect way to kick off the season while enjoying some of the best local beverages and seasonal flavors,” a press release says.
The event is $40 per person. Bottles of wine and cider will be available for purchase at 20% off, and Water Park will host an accompanying gift-wrapping station for items purchased at the event.
Programming will continue into next weekend, with a “Winter Waterland” planned for 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The celebration will feature hot chocolate and several family-friendly activities, like wreath making, ice skating and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Arlington Philharmonic will also return for performances at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Ice skating will take place near the park’s central fountain, with a 19-by-19-foot ice rink that can accommodate about eight to 10 skaters at once, a representative said. Guests will be allowed 30 minutes in the rink at $35 per person.
Nearby, the Water Park plans to install a snow globe photo booth, where guests can take 360-degree group pictures.
