O’Connell swimming & diving team enjoying strong start to season

In boys girls and boys meets, the Bishop O’Connell Knights are off to a strong start to the swimming and diving high-school season.

Each team has won a number of early-season matches, including victories over the Knights’ top rival in the St. Paul VI Catholic Panthers. The girls won 152-134 and the boys 164-118.

O’Connell also has swept Bishop Ireton and John Paul the Great in other meets, with the boys topping Good Counsel, 170-136.

Some of the top swimmers and race-winners for the O’Connell girls have been Stella Mastroianni, Carlin Smittle, Anna Sullivan, Eleanor Wertzler, Elliott Rowan, Molly Kinsella, Anna LeNard, Audrey McKeen, Kalyn Ohara, Payton Masten, Katie Torrey and Claire Thompson.

Top swimmers for the boys have been Paul Mullen, Chase Garcia, Timmy Adye, Graham Rowan, Jermaine Worthen, Jordan Koller, Willis Fleming and Colin Buckhorn.

Top divers for O’Connell have been Isabel Smith, Lilli Lepore and Leah Close for the girls and Rai Detten for the boys.
