Authorities responded to a fire at Crystal City Sports Pub early this morning.
The fire was reported at 5:34 a.m. Thursday at 529 23rd Street S. Initial reports indicated flames and smoke were seen coming from the building and the restaurant’s sprinkler system was activated.
The Arlington County Fire Department issued a press release Thursday evening saying the blaze was one of several small fires set at 23rd Street restaurant row businesses overnight.
On Jan. 9, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., units from the Arlington County Fire Department were dispatched to the 500 block of S. 23rd Street for a reported structure fire. Units arrived on scene and found items in an enclosed patio of 529 S. 23rd Street on fire. The fire was contained by the sprinkler system and quickly extinguished by responding firefighters. The fire did not spread into the main structure.
The preliminary investigation conducted by The Office of the Fire Marshal determined the fire to be suspicious in nature. During the investigation, additional fire damage was discovered to adjacent businesses. These fires are also being investigated and are deemed suspicious in nature.

ACFD spokesman Capt. Nate Hiner did not have a damage estimate when asked by ARLnow earlier today.
(On Friday afternoon, Freddie’s Beach Bar and McNamara’s Pub were also identified as having been damaged by the arsonist.)
