There was not a winner of any event from the three Arlington boys high-school teams at the Liberty District swimming and diving championship, but there were some notable individual performances.
Lucas Lopez of the Wakefield Warriors swam to the highest finishes with a second in the 100 backstroke and a fourth in the 100 butterfly.
The Yorktown Patriots were the highest-finishing team among the Arlington trio, in third.
One of the swimmers leading Yorktown was Mitchell Robinson, with fourths in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. He also swam in the third-place medley relay.
Yorktown’s Jacob Owens was fifth in the fly and sixth in the back. He also swam on the medley relay.
“The boys had a strong meet, with good swims,” Yorktown coach Torey Ortmayer told ARLnow.
Yorktown’s Liam Hussey was sixth in the 500 free and eighth in the 200 free. Alex Han was seventh in the 100 free and 10th in the 50 free, and Nicholas Pedicano was eighth in the individual medley and back.
Other Yorktown swimmers with top-16 finishes were Connor Lavin, Matthew Aslaksen, Charlie Hotra, Eamon DeGrande, George Cocker, Andrew Adams, Sam Beall and Griffin Langsdale.
Yorktown diver Jack Reed finished third, with Logan DiBenigno seventh.
Leading the fifth-place Washington-Liberty Generals, Kedar Kambhampaty was fourth in the IM and fifth in the breast, Diego Ramos was sixth in the fly and seventh in the breast, with Zane Rogers sixth in the 100 and 200 free races.
Others with top-16 finishers were Tyler Hong, Gavin Simpson, Peter Huggler, Jackson Bolfek, Griffin Langsdale, Elijah Na and Hank Keirsey.
In diving, Michale Staren was fifth for W-L, Quinn Coogen sixth and Jack Bowman eighth.
Miles Wright was another top swimmer for the Wakefield boys.
